Taking a Step Back

Artist tip:

When you’re working on a painting, don’t forget to step back frequently.

As artists we get so honed in on the fine details that we forget to look at the piece as a whole.

My advice is to step back often and review your painting from different angles. Remember your collectors will be appreciating your work from a distance.

If you’re feeling as though you’ve hit a wall, or things aren’t going the way you want them to, it might be time to take a break. Either take a few hours, or come back to it the next day. Remember, art is a process!
