My Artistry Journey

As a young girl, I was always creating things. I would choose an art supply store over a toy or candy store any day!

As I got older, my passion for creativity grew. One of my best friends calls me a “Maker” - which is very fitting. I’ve dabbled in furniture finishing & building, fashion design, and of course, painting.

As many of us do, I’ve hit creative roadblocks through the years. One of the most distinct ones happened in grade 8 when my art teacher had us draw a hand as our first project. I struggled terribly with this, and ended up dropping art and switching to sewing. Later in life, I reflect back on that moment and realize that I gave up because it wasn’t my genre of art. I’m an abstract & intuitive artist, and I just didn’t enjoy the process of drawing something realistically.

The morale of the story is, the journey of a creative person is always evolving. You will hit roadblocks, and then you will thrive. And that cycle will repeat forever. Creativity comes in ebbs and flows and the most important part is that you honour the journey. Embrace the challenges, and never give up.
