Being Authentic in an Increasingly Inauthentic World

There is growing evidence of a link between social media and depression.  Social media allows us to portray sanitized versions of ourselves.  Wearing these masks (not COVID masks!), we present ourselves to the world with photos of our grinning, happy faces, spectacular landscapes, and wondrous adventures.  However, when we see others do likewise, it's hard not to feel pangs of envy and have feelings of inadequacy.  Why is it that this person on Facebook seems to have the perfect life... the perfect kids...the perfect marriage?  Why is it that I don't have the same adventurous lifestyle or deep and intimate connection with others?  Social media can often leave us feeling like we're missing out on life.

In my new series, I want to battle against the falsehood that is so prevalent in social media: the idea that life is perfect.  The truth is that I struggle, both personally and professionally.  The truth is that my life isn't perfect...not even close.  I invite you to join me on this journey of self-discovery.  And, maybe in being my true authentic self, I can help in creating a safe place for others in their journeys of self-discovery.

Lots of love, Jenn xo
