Jenn expertly evokes the scenery of British Columbia in her soft abstract landscapes. She utilizes defining horizontal and vertical strokes, coupled with a skillful handling of color, to create significant depth in each piece. Her paintings, though abstracted, clearly convey the atmospheric attributes of the scene – rain, wind, clouds, fog.
Jenn’s muted color palette transports the viewer to the Canadian west coast, as if to be standing before the marshlands and ocean right alongside the artist.
The intuitive nature of my personality flows over into my art practice. I paint without reference materials or a preconceived outcome.
I am fascinated with clouds, fog, mist, rays of sunlight, water, mountains, trees, texture, patinas, sunsets, marshlands, rolling pastures, moody skies.
My love of painting started when I was very young. It took many years – and many false starts – to fully realize the extent of my passion for painting. Other creative pursuits I explored were fashion design, dressmaking, woodworking & faux finishing.
Peaceful moments and times of reflection are sacred to me, although I am also known by those close to me to be quite vibrant and passionate.
My paintings provide an oasis of tranquillity in which viewers find solace from this fast-paced world.
Connection is at the core of everything I do. Painting allows me to connect with my Creator, the gifts I have been given, and the people that are touched by my work.
