A Genius & An Airhead ….. New York highlights

Almost a year of preparations for my Show in New York City ….. I can’t believe it’s come & gone!  The response to my artwork was more profound than I could ever have imagined. I am humbled & exhausted – grateful and inspired.

In addition to painting every day, I feel inspired to write about my ‘genius & airhead’ moments (hence the title of this blog post).

If I only shared the highlights, you might mistakenly believe that I have it all together.  Trust me —– I don’t!  I can be such an airhead.  Finding my way around NYC was very difficult without my hubby (he is always the trip planner).  I have ZERO sense of direction and can get lost in Langley, so NYC was a force to be reckoned with!  I survived though, and can’t wait to tell the stories 🙂

One month from today …..

My New York Show will be over!   It will be an amazing experience to exhibit my work on such a large stage.

I’ll be showing several new series for the first time ever, and I’m excited to see how people respond.  Here is a sneak peek…..a few of the many layouts I have been working on for the past month:

15' Wall New York 800

Right 4' Wall NY 800     4' Outside Wall NY

Stay tuned for highlights of the show & my time in New York. If you don’t already follow me on Facebook, you might want to as I hope to do a few live video feeds during the show. Here’s the link, if you’d like to connect with me on FB: https://www.facebook.com/jennwilliamsonartist/

Thanks for your support & encouragement – as always (and even more than ever) – I couldn’t do this without you! 🙂

Rising Strong (borrowed from Brene Brown)

It’s a ‘rising strong’ kind of day.  Those of you who have read Brene Brown’s book know what I mean.

I was so optimistic that my painting would be selected in the top 10 of over 500 entries submitted for the “New York Artexpo 2016 Official Poster“.

The theme for the poster challenge was “Chroma”.  I mediated on and researched the word at length before going to the easel to create my interpretation of it.

This is what I created, and I have to say I am very much in love with it!  I just wish the judges could see what an amazing poster it would make 🙂

Resonance 62x36

On a positive note, I thoroughly enjoyed the challenge of painting something very different. I used palette knives, glorious colours, gel medium for some luscious texture, and it truly was a full-body experience painting a piece that is taller than me (not saying much, I know!).

I’m grateful for the experience, and I expect I will explore this style a little more over time.

In the meantime, it is back to the drawing board – focusing on getting ready for New York in April!

Thanks for sharing in my Rising Strong day.

Thanks to my Collectors……

You have officially sent me to New York, and I am overwhelmed with gratitude. After launching my New York Sale (promotion), I have been inundated with emails, phone calls, appointments to show & sell paintings to the people that make my ability to paint possible……YOU!

Here are some of the pieces that have sold in the past few weeks:

If you don’t see your painting here, please know that it was very challenging to ‘curate’ this collage. There were some pieces that flowed better than others 🙂
Thank you so much to all who have supported me in so many ways – I am honoured and blessed.   Warmest regards, Jenn

New York Art Show!

Yes, it’s really happening.  My artwork will be exhibited in New York in April, 2016.

I’ll admit I’m a little bit excited, very honoured, and I might not sleep tonight.  I’ve never had such a big goal ahead of me, but I believe any worthwhile pursuit should be a little bit scary, and very exciting.

I hope you’ll join me in my journey as I prepare for an exciting year ahead.  Thank you for your support & encouragement —- I could not have done this without all of you!
